The checklists
Our room-type and category checklists are standard, field-tested dorm packing knowledge — not claims about any one school. The one universal fact we lead with everywhere: US dorms use Twin XL mattresses.
The school pages
For each of the 124 schools we state stable public facts (state, public/private control, and the typical room-type options at large US universities) and the universal checklist, then point you to that school's official Housing / Residence Life page for the things that genuinely vary by building: prohibited items, appliance size/wattage limits, and provided furniture. We never fabricate a school's prohibited-items list — your housing office is the authority, and we say so on every page.
The climate note
Each school page includes a packing-for-the-weather note. It's a general regional-climate guide derived from the school's state — not a per-school weather claim or forecast. It exists to make the packing list genuinely different for a Minnesota winter versus a Florida move-in, and you should treat it as a rule of thumb, not a guarantee.
What we don't publish
We deliberately don't publish admissions statistics, acceptance rates, or financial-aid figures. Those numbers only mean anything when taken verbatim from a school's official published data (its Common Data Set) for a specific year — and we won't put a number on the page unless it's cited to that source. Until we can source and cite every figure that way, we leave it off rather than guess. Your school's admissions office and the U.S. Department of Education's College Scorecard are the authorities there.
