Operating system: Minimum: "Windows 11, macOS Sequoia". Recommended: "Windows 11, macOS Tahoe or later".

Processor: Minimum: "12th Gen Intel i5 (current gen naming equiv. Intel Ultra 5) OR AMD 6000 Series Ryzen 5". Recommended: "Intel Core Ultra 7 Series 2 or newer OR AMD 8000 Series Ryzen 7 or newer".

Memory (RAM): Minimum: "16GB RAM". Recommended: "32GB RAM or greater".

Storage: Minimum: "500GB SSD". Recommended: "1TB SSD or larger".

Graphics: Minimum: "AMD or Intel integrated GPU". Recommended: "Discrete NVIDIA or AMD GPU". Page lists CCE, ECE and MIME majors as needing a dedicated/discrete GPU.

Warranty: No warranty term is mandated. Page advises: "Consider extended/accidental warranties. Accidents happen, protect your investment." and "Laptops that come with 3 year warranties generally last longer than ones that come with 1 year warranties."

What this specification rules out

No device class is formally banned. The page states "Many courses will require you to run software that is Microsoft Windows only!" and gives per-major guidance: CCE "Windows only, dedicated/discrete GPU", ECE "Windows only, dedicated/discrete GPU", MIME "Windows only, dedicated/discrete GPU"; CBEE, CS and NSE are "Windows or Mac". It also warns that Apple M-series (ARM) machines can have trouble running Windows virtual machines and some CAD/specialized software.
